Quilt For Kids

Quilt for Kids, What a wonderful organization! Many of the ladies I have met in our new guild and the online quilt group are making quilts for this organization.
You can go to their website Quilt for Kids and sign up. They will send you a quilt kit, all cut out with enough fabric for backing and binding. You supply the batting and do all the piecing.
I have completed my first top and am machine quilting it as I post this blog. The quilts go to children in hospitals all around the United States. You can also start a QFK's chapter in your area  and all the quilts made will be donated to the local hospitals. You can also donate fabric and finance if you don't want to piece a quilt. More than one kit can be ordered if you have a small group that would like to work together on them also.

Central Iowa Quilt SEW-ciety Guild in Marshalltown

We had our first official meeting last night under our new name and it was exciting. There were 41 ladies including me and one gentleman there . WOW! They are all soo excited and have so many wonderful ideas. I don't think Marshalltown really knows what hit it yet.
We have 52 names on our email list and last night there were 3 ladies that hadn't been there before, I have also talked to several (about 5) that are really interested but had conflicts with last nights time.
The really great thing in all of this is that I have made some new quilty friends and all of these ladies are very inspiring to me.
