Slashing my Stash

Good Morning,

Sometimes I get so inspired reading all my quilty blogs. I read a few other blogs too, one is a cooking blog and another is a photography blog but today I was reading from the blue chair blog. Kati (the blog author) is talking about her "Slash your Stash" projects and it got me to thinking about my stash. In the back of my mind when I start to think about going fabric shopping, and lately it has been on my mind a lot, then I think, can I get one more quilt out of my stash first?

In all of this thinking I realized that my weekender quilt was made totally from my stash, and the quilt that I started working on a few days ago (you can find the pattern here ) is totally all stash material!! YAY!!

I want to try and get more out of the stash that I have which potentially is at least 3 or 4 more quilts before I purchase any more fabric.

I have been going through my stash a lot lately because of this new quilt and realized I have quite a bit of christmas fabric so I would like to make a christmas tree skirt and I really like this pattern. I think I have enough material to make at least 2 if not 3 skirts.

With all of that being said, my new goal for the rest of this year is to see how long I can go without making any new fabric purchases. I would like to finish up the many projects I have going. Any new projects I want to make will have to come from my stash.

Here is a list of current projects:
1. put the binding on the Weekender quilt  - Done
2. finish quilting baby quilt that is on the long arm and then bind it. - Done
3. quilt and bind nieces star quilt
4. quilt and bind step daughters quilt
5, quilt and bind blue and white quilt
6. piece and quilt applique (Moda pattern) flower quilt for daughter
7. finish piecing and quilt 3 applique wall hangings
            a. flowers with pinwheel border
            b. fall - pumpkin with leaves
            c. flower pot with fiber art stablizer
8. Finish paper piecing Radiant BOM and quilt it
9. Finish paper piecing Points of Pride and quilt it
10. Finish piecing green and white top and quilt it.

Whew, I will stop there. It looks more like a Finish up Friday kind of year than a Slash your Stash. :)

Those are just the projects I need/want to get done. That doesn't even count the ones floating through my head. Does anyone remember the sewing brick wall I hit earlier this year??  I do! Here is a big THANK YOU to my fellow bloggers out there in blogland. Sometimes just reading about quilters and their quilty projects can really inspire this often uninspired quilter.

Where is this post going?? Not really sure. I started with Slashing my Stash and ended with thanking those bloggers out there that keep me and you inspired to keep doing what we love to do.
